Recycling

Climate change is a global phenomenon that requires everyone’s involvement.

Through this website, we present actions, solutions and good practices. Everything we all need to incorporate in our daily lives as citizens and in our agenda as elected officials and scientists in order to achieve the mitigation of the consequences for the planet, the environment and our lives, the protection and survival of the system we live in!This is a collective effort in which we invite you to participate!

The Municipality of Korinthia is aiming high in the coming years, together we can do it!

Introduction to Recycling

Prevention, Reuse, Recycling, Recovery, Rejection.

Change of philosophy

1. We are reviewing our consumption habits in food, clothing and products: I only buy what I need – I don’t waste!

2. Avoid buying and consuming items we don’t really need.

3. We reduce our energy and product consumption needs

4. Reuse old items, find new uses for them or give them to others

5. We repair old items, upgrade them or buy used ones

6. We recycle as many materials that are recycled or composted

7. We throw as few materials as possible in the trash and always in a responsible way!!!

Benefits

With Recycling:

1. We reduce the volume of waste that ends up in landfills, thus extending the life of these valuable infrastructures.

2. By diverting quantities from the landfills, our Municipality has an economic benefit since for each ton of waste sent to landfill it spends the corresponding landfill fees.

3. The City, by reducing landfill fees, has the ability to reduce municipal fees or invest in upgrading the services it provides to citizens

4. We create and maintain new full-time jobs in the collection and sorting of packaging waste locally.

5. We improve the quality of life in our neighbourhoods and enhance the overall environmental awareness and behaviour of all of us

6. We save raw materials and energy by substituting raw materials in industry with secondary materials, so we all together protect the environment and the natural resources of the country and the planet.
